Practices

Like many farms striving for a triple bottom line of sustainability, our practices are inspired by the leaders and authors of ecological farming and permaculture design. We are also inspired to innovation by our own unique conditions here in Pfafftown.

Here are some of our basic practices:

• We grow our crops under minimum cultivation without chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. 
• We use mostly heirloom or open-pollinated seed and save seed. 
• Our all-natural chickens are pasture-raised without antibiotics. 
• Compost, compost tea, chicken poop, and biodynamic preparations are our primary methods of fertilization.
